Short description: The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issues related to zoonoses. During the course there are discussed basic definitions and terms used in the connection with the prevalence of the zoonoses in populations and (taking into account the individual animal species), sources of infection and the routes of the possible spread of the infection/invasion. The clinical manifestation of certain disease entities in animals, laboratory methods in order to identify disease in the veterinary medicine as well as the course of diseases and their diagnosis in humans is presented (the classes conducted by medical practitioner, expert of infectious diseases in human medicine).
Full description: The aim of the course is to provide students with currently binding legal acts focussed of zoonotic diseases (control and eradication), basic definitions and classification of zoonotic diseases according to WHO (direct zoonoses, cyclo-zoonoses, meta-zoonoses, sapro-zoonoses). The subject matter take into consideration parasitic zoonoses, zoonoses of the infectious background (viral, bacterial, fungal) and the practical labs (sequence of parasitological training). Clinical manifestation described diseases in people is introduced by doctors (Wrocław Medical University), experts of infectious diseases in people.
